The opening conversation

Whether you are just starting to think about having a baby, actively trying to conceive, or navigating the frustrating and emotionally exhausting experience of difficulty getting pregnant, naturopathic care has a meaningful role to play in supporting your fertility journey.

Fertility is not just a reproductive issue. It is a whole-body issue. Your hormones, your nutrient status, your gut health, your stress response, your thyroid, your blood sugar, and your sleep all directly affect your ability to conceive and carry a healthy pregnancy. When any of these are off, fertility is often where it shows up first.

The good news is that many of the factors that affect fertility are addressable. Finding them requires the right testing, the right framework, and a practitioner who will actually look for them.

What I can help with

Preconception preparation and fertility optimization, irregular or absent cycles affecting conception, hormonal imbalances including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, PCOS and ovulatory dysfunction, unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, support alongside IVF and IUI cycles, male fertility support including sperm health and motility, thyroid optimization for fertility, nutrient repletion and preconception supplementation, and stress and nervous system support during the fertility journey.

How I approach

Fertility & Pregnancy Prep

Using the Hormone Cornerstone Method I assess fertility as a whole-body concern. Rather than looking only at reproductive hormones I examine the full picture of what may be affecting your ability to conceive, including thyroid function which is one of the most commonly missed drivers of fertility challenges, cortisol and adrenal health which directly affects ovulation and implantation, blood sugar and insulin regulation particularly in the context of PCOS, nutrient deficiencies including folate, iron, vitamin D, zinc, and omega 3 fatty acids that are critical for both fertility and early fetal development, gut health and its role in hormone metabolism, and inflammatory markers that can affect implantation and early pregnancy.

For both partners I assess the relevant hormonal, nutritional, and lifestyle factors that affect reproductive health and build a personalized plan that supports fertility from every angle.

Preconception Care

If you are planning to conceive in the next three to twelve months, preconception care is one of the most valuable investments you can make for both your health and your baby's. The three months before conception are a critical window for optimizing egg and sperm quality, replenishing nutrients, balancing hormones, and preparing your body for the demands of pregnancy.

You do not have to wait until something goes wrong to seek support. Starting early gives us the best possible foundation.

Supporting Both Partners

Fertility is a shared journey and male factor infertility contributes to roughly half of all fertility challenges. I work with both partners to assess and optimize sperm health, hormonal balance, nutrient status, and lifestyle factors that affect reproductive outcomes. Supporting both partners together is almost always more effective than focusing on one alone.

FAQs

Don't see your question here? Reach out and I'll answer it directly.

How does thyroid health affect fertility?

Thyroid function has a profound effect on fertility. Even subclinical thyroid dysfunction that falls within standard reference ranges can impair ovulation, affect implantation, increase the risk of miscarriage, and affect fetal development in early pregnancy. Thyroid optimization is a core part of how I approach fertility care.

I have been trying to conceive for a while and it is taking a toll emotionally. Can you support that too?

Absolutely and I want to acknowledge that the emotional weight of a difficult fertility journey is real and significant. While I am not a therapist, I do take the emotional dimension of fertility care seriously and work to make our appointments a space where you feel heard and supported. I also address the physiological impacts of chronic stress on fertility directly as part of your treatment plan.

Can male fertility be improved naturopathically?

Yes. Sperm health including count, motility, and morphology is significantly influenced by nutrient status, oxidative stress, hormonal balance, and lifestyle factors. Many of these are highly responsive to targeted naturopathic interventions including supplementation, dietary changes, and stress management.

Do I need to stop my birth control before coming to see you?

No. If you are considering coming off hormonal contraception as part of your fertility journey we can absolutely support that transition and discuss what to expect hormonally in the months that follow.

Can you support me through an IVF or IUI cycle?

Absolutely. Naturopathic care can be a valuable complement to assisted reproductive technology. I work alongside your fertility clinic and can time naturopathic support around your treatment protocol to optimize your body's environment at key stages of the cycle.

Can naturopathic care help with unexplained infertility?

Yes. Unexplained infertility often means that standard investigations have not found an obvious cause, not that nothing is wrong. Through more comprehensive hormonal testing, thyroid assessment, nutrient panels, and a thorough review of your full health picture, we frequently find addressable factors that were previously missed.

When should I start preconception care?

Ideally three to six months before you plan to start trying to conceive. This window aligns with the maturation cycle of both eggs and sperm, giving us time to address any nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, or lifestyle factors before conception. That said it is never too late to start and any support is better than none.
