Acupuncture support for your fertility journey, whether you're trying naturally or going through IVF or IUI.

Dr. Margot ND - A Naturopathic doctor working in Toronto and virtually online.

The opening conversation

Whether you are just starting your fertility journey or are deep in the middle of it, acupuncture can be a powerful and supportive tool. Fertility acupuncture works by supporting the body's natural reproductive function, regulating hormones, improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and reducing the stress that so often accompanies the journey to conception.

This appointment is available to both new and existing patients and can be booked as a standalone treatment or alongside naturopathic care through the Hormone Cornerstone Method.

What I can help with

Who This Is For

Fertility acupuncture is supportive for anyone on a fertility journey, including those trying to conceive naturally, those preparing for or currently going through IVF or IUI, those with irregular cycles, hormonal imbalances, or unexplained infertility, those who have experienced pregnancy loss and are preparing to try again, and partners looking to support sperm health and overall reproductive wellness.

What Acupuncture Can Support

Fertility acupuncture works on multiple levels to support reproductive health. It helps regulate the menstrual cycle and improve cycle predictability, support healthy ovulation, improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries to support implantation, balance reproductive hormones including estrogen, progesterone, and FSH, reduce stress and cortisol which can directly impact fertility, and support the body through the emotional and physical demands of fertility treatments.

For those going through IVF or IUI, acupuncture can be timed around your cycle and treatment protocol to provide support at key stages including before egg retrieval, around transfer, and during the two week wait.

How I approach

Fertility Acupuncture

For best results, fertility acupuncture is recommended once every one to two weeks for a minimum of two to three months. This timeframe aligns with the natural maturation cycle of an egg, giving us the best opportunity to support your body's reproductive environment. For those working around an IVF or IUI cycle, sessions can be scheduled to align with your treatment protocol.

Your first appointment includes a full intake so I can understand your health history, your cycle, and your goals before we begin treatment.

FAQs

Don't see your question here? Reach out and I'll answer it directly.

How many fertility acupuncture sessions will I need?

I recommend a minimum of two to three months of weekly or bi-weekly sessions for best results. For those working around an IVF or IUI cycle, the number of sessions will depend on your treatment timeline. We will always work at a pace that makes sense for your situation and your goals.

Is fertility acupuncture safe?

Yes. Fertility acupuncture is safe and well tolerated. I tailor every session to where you are in your cycle and your fertility journey. If you are currently working with a fertility clinic or reproductive endocrinologist, I am happy to collaborate with your care team.

Can I combine fertility acupuncture with naturopathic care?

Yes and many patients find the combination particularly effective. Naturopathic care through the Hormone Cornerstone Method allows us to address the hormonal, nutritional, and lifestyle factors affecting your fertility alongside the acupuncture treatments. You can book both or start with one and add the other when you are ready.

Can my partner also receive fertility acupuncture?

Yes. Acupuncture can support sperm health, motility, and overall reproductive wellness in partners as well. Fertility is a shared journey and supporting both partners can make a meaningful difference.

How long before should I start fertility acupuncture?

For best results, I recommend starting acupuncture two to three months before you plan to conceive or begin a fertility treatment cycle. This gives us time to work with your body's natural rhythms and optimize your reproductive environment. That said, it is never too late to start and any support is better than none.

Can fertility acupuncture be combined with IVF or IUI?

Absolutely. Acupuncture can be scheduled around your IVF or IUI protocol to support your body at key stages of the process. Many patients find it helps manage the physical and emotional demands of fertility treatments while supporting the overall success of their cycle.

Do I need a fertility diagnosis to book fertility acupuncture?

No. Fertility acupuncture is supportive for anyone trying to conceive, whether you have a specific diagnosis or are dealing with unexplained infertility. You do not need a referral or a diagnosis to get started.
