Acupuncture: How it works
One of the oldest healing systems in the world. Available as a standalone treatment or as part of the Hormone Cornerstone Method.

The opening conversation
Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing systems in the world. By placing very fine needles at specific points on the body, acupuncture helps restore balance, reduce pain, and support the body's natural ability to heal. Research has shown that acupuncture locally increases blood flow, decreases inflammation, and reduces pain signals in the body making it effective for a wide range of both acute and chronic concerns.
Treatments may also include electro-stimulation or cupping when appropriate.
Acupuncture is available as part of naturopathic care in person at Body Co in The Junction, West End Toronto, and can be booked as a standalone treatment or as part of the Hormone Cornerstone Method. Acupuncture appointments are billed under naturopathic services and direct billing is available for most insurance plans.
Never tried acupuncture before?
I get it. Needles can feel intimidating. But the needles used in acupuncture are incredibly fine, nothing like what you'd expect from a blood draw or a vaccine. My approach is to meet you where you're at. I am happy to explain as much or as little as you'd like, and I can always adjust as we go. You are always in control of your experience.
What I can help with
Acupuncture can address a wide variety of concerns including injury and pain management, sleep support, menstrual cycle concerns like PMS, period pain and irregular cycles, common pregnancy complaints, nervous system support, and general self-care and relaxation.

I recommend eating a light meal before your appointment, wearing comfortable clothing, and avoiding caffeine immediately beforehand if possible. That's about it!
Absolutely. Acupuncture can be done as a standalone treatment or integrated into your Hormone Cornerstone Method appointments. Many patients find the combination especially effective.
Acupuncture performed by a Naturopathic Doctor is billed under naturopathic services. Many extended health benefit plans cover naturopathic care, so it is worth checking with your provider. I offer direct billing to most insurance companies.
This depends on what you are coming in for. For most concerns, I recommend starting with a minimum of four sessions once every one to two weeks to see how your body responds. Some people notice shifts after just one or two treatments, while others benefit from a longer course of care.
The needles used in acupuncture are very fine and most people are surprised by how little they feel. Some points may produce a mild sensation of pressure, warmth, or a dull ache, which is completely normal and usually a sign the point is active. I always work at your pace and can adjust based on your comfort level throughout the treatment.
